The Bellerive Crown Series Regatta is a much anticipated event being held on the Derwent River. The event itself has become an excellent celebration of sailing in all its racing forms and this year will also mark the 10th anniversary of the event, however the regatta can tracked back 160 years. In the same week the Australian Farr 40 titles will be held on the Derwent River as well. A full and exciting week of racing is ahead and should prove to be one of the most eventful yet.
At the CleanLIFT Facility we currently have 4 of the racing Farr 40’s preparing their vessels for the racing to come. Each has had to make adjustments to get back within the weight restrictions. Weight restrictions aside the teams for each vessel have been working around the clock doing final preparations and equipment checks while also fitting in a weekends worth of training. Friday will prove to be one our busiest days lifting all these racing yachts and more back into the water so they can reach the start line on time.
Tasmania has enjoyed some very successful results at the recent dinghy nationals which were held on the mainland. Classes such as Optimists, Lasers, B14s, Flying 11s,and Sabres will be tightly contested, with Tasmanian sailors tipped to be right at the top. Bellerive Yacht Club commodore John Mills is hopeful for much greater on-water activities and enhanced social events after the racing. This is great news for all racers and spectators alike. BYC are always accepting of volunteers for the event, if you would like to volunteer you can put your name down by either calling 6244 1353 or emailing BYC at office@belleriveyachtclub.com.au.
The team here at CleanLIFT is anxious to see Voodoo Chile ready and racing and wish all competitors, of both the Bellerive Crown Series and the Farr 40 Nationals, the best of luck for their events. For all those who would like to spectate the event the Farr 40 titles are being held from the 18th-22nd of February and the Bellerive Crown Series begins on the 21st-23rd of February. Both will be held on the Derwent River and will showcase some of Australia’s best and up and coming racers. Further information can be found at their websites.
